I took this photograph in June 1994 while on a family vacation to Connecticut
to
visit some relatives. Our family (me, my wife and sons Chris, Steve and Richard)
went to New York, Manhattan and Ellis Island. We visited the Statue of Liberty,
Ellis Island, The World Trade Centers, The Empire State Building, and much
more.
We took the Amtrak train from Connecticut to New York and back, which was
a lot
of fun in itself. It was the first and only time any of us have rode in a
train. We also took
a tour bus around Manhattan, China Town, the UN Building, Greenich Village,
Central
Park, hotel where John Lennon was shot, the CBS building (home of The Late
Show with
David Letterman) and more. It was an awesome trip. We took the train to and
from
Grand Central Station, saw street vendors and had a great time. We had a nice
lunch in
the World Trade Center Twin Towers before we went up to the very top. I took
the above
photograph from the ferry taking us to the Statue of Liberty, notice the World
Trade Center
in the background.

Height from base to top of torch: 151 feet
Height from bottom of pedestal to top of torch: 305 feet
192 steps to top of pedestal
354 steps to crown
I took this photograph of the Brooklin Bridge from the top of the
World Trade Center Towers. Yes, from the outside at the very top!
I took this photograph of the Statue of Liberty and of
Ellis Island from the Lookout Room in the World Trade
Center.
