Here's Waikiki Beach down towards Saratoga Road and the park by
the U.S. Army Museum. You can see the Outrigger Reef Hotel just behind the palm trees and Diamond Head in the background. This beach
is considered Fort DeRussy Beach and the park is Fort DeRussy Park. Just to the east (past the park and hotel) is Waikiki Beach. This photo
was taken early in the morning before the beach "filled" with people.

Here's Waikiki Beach along the western part of the beach. Just past the Outrigger
Reef Hotel (just beyond the Fort DeRussy Park) is the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel and the extremely
crowded beach area along Waikiki Beach. The beach in this photo is actually considered Fort
DeRussy Beach.

Rich with his longboard. This is the beach area along Kalakaua Ave
just east of Kaiulani and across from the Hyatt Regency Hotel. This starts the
very crowded Waikiki Beach front.

Here's Waikiki Beach at night. Beautiful !!

A Banyan tree along Waikiki Beach. Notice the trunk at
the top of the root system that has been cut.

A typical site along Waikiki Beach above and below. The ocean was
rather calm for surfing when I took the photograph below.

Much better waves (in the photo below) for surfing.

Duke Kanahamoku Statue on Waikiki Beach. Notice the Tiki torches in the background.
The Tiki torches are lit everynight around 6:00 pm. Duke is the famous Hawaiian surfer who
basically made surfing an internationally known sport. This statue is in the heart of Waikiki Beach.
There are picnic tables and covered areas all along the beach, in case you want to get out of the sun
or have a non sandy place to eat and rest. There are also enclosed "breakwater" areas for swimmers
who don't want the waves pounding in on them. Water vehicles, such as waverunners, are not allowed
along Waikiki Beach. We also saw a police officer giving a ticket to someone who was skateboarding.
Rich and I went rollerblading in the Ala Moana Beach Park, which had some cool bridges over canals
and a nice beach front area for skating with some beautiful trees.
