I took these photographs on June 25, 2000 in the late afternoon, just before sunset. It is
simply beautiful here also, but is very difficult to locate. The lighthouse is also on a
military base (Fort Lawton) and you run the risk of getting a ticket. We parked close to the
lighthouse in a parking area where several other people also parked. It’s a short walk to
the lighthouse and there was much driftwood of large trees along the shore. You have a
fantastic view of Mount Olympus from the light house also. While we were there we saw
a man playing bag pipes along the water edge and you can see his silhouette just under the
sail boat in the first photograph. I love bag pipes, along with lighthouses, so I was in
heaven. I wish I had more time to spend at Alki Point and at this lighthouse because I
could spend many hours at each one. A magical place at sunset with lots to explore along
the water front.

It is located in Seattle’s Discovery Park at the north end of Elliot Bay. It is not an easy
lighthouse to find, so give yourself some time for this one. The Olympic Mountain Range
and the Puget Sound make for beautiful scenery around the lighthouse. The splendor of
the area is quite breath taking. However, there is a sewage plant close by, but if you keep
your focus on the back drop beauty and the lighthouse itself, the visit is very nice for a
lighthouse lover.
