The blowing of the conch to start the hula festivities. There are hula shows
all
over the island around 6:00 pm nightly. This show is on Waikiki Beach by a
big Banyan tree close to the Duke Kanahamoku statue. It is held in this location
nightly on a stage area on the beach just off the sidewalk along the road.
This is directly across from the Hyatt Regency Waikiki Hotel on Kalakaua Avenue.
The conch shell was blown (btw...I bought one while in O'ahu) and the Tiki torches
lit. It is now time for hula.
We are facing the town with our backs to the ocean. Rich decided to watch the
local surfers instead since he
wasn't interested in the hula show. He just sat behind me on the beach and watched
the sunset and surfers.
Me surrounded by hula girls !! Hang Loose....
